Section X has awarded scholarships to three student athletes in recognition of their academic achievement, athletic involvement, leadership and sportsmanship.
Marshall Wright of Morristown, Levi Biller of Heuvelton and Violet Atkinson of Harrisville received scholarships.
Wright received a $500 scholarship for his service as one of Section X’s New York State Public High School Athletic Association representatives on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, where he has served for the past two years. He participates in boys soccer, boys basketball and baseball and has held leadership roles in Boy Scouts since fifth grade. He currently serves as senior patrol leader, overseeing the entire troop. Wright is also involved in student council, National Junior Honor Society and the Learn to Lead Program.

Biller and Atkinson applied for the Dennis E. Fries National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association scholarship. While neither advanced to the final round, the section awarded each student a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of their effort and demonstrated academic, athletic, leadership and sportsmanship qualities.
Biller ranks fifth in his senior class of 28 students with a 95.77 GPA and has earned high honor roll for six semesters. He is a four-year member of the baseball team, earning first- and second-team All-NAC honors. He has also competed in soccer and track and field for three years, receiving additional All-NAC recognition, and has served as captain of all three teams for the past two years. His extracurricular involvement includes student council, National Honor Society president, No Place for Hate vice president, Whiz Quiz and serving as Heuvelton’s SAAC representative. He also participates in community service with AmVets and in Heuvelton elementary classrooms.


Atkinson ranks fourth in a senior class of 25 with a 99.14 GPA and has earned high honor roll throughout high school. She has received multiple college awards, including the Clarkson Achievement Award, Elmira College Award, Keuka College Award, Sage College Award and Wilkes College Award. A four-year varsity basketball player, Atkinson earned first-team All-NAC honors. She also competed in varsity soccer for two years and played softball for one season. Her leadership roles include serving as president of art club, Student Representative Assembly, Backpack Club and National Honor Society, as well as vice president of the Youth Advisory Council. She has been Harrisville’s SAAC representative during her junior and senior years. Atkinson’s community service includes participation in NHS Angel Tree, community toy and clothing drives, serving as an assistant coach for grades four through six girls basketball and mentoring middle school students.
